WSB Western Province stormed to a resounding victory over the Fidelity Titans at Newlands, while the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers showcased their class with a thrilling triumph over the Knights in Oudtshoorn in the weekend’s Hollywoodbets Pro50 Series on Saturday, November 30.

The Fidelity Titans Women displayed grit with the bat after winning the toss, Robyn Searle anchored the innings with a splendid 91, ably supported by Christelle van der Schyff’s 34 and Amogelang Maphangula’s 24.

Despite Western Province bowlers, led by Tatum le Roux (2/51) and Rifqah Essau (1/36), chipping away at the wickets, the Titans posted a respectable 227/8 in their 50 overs.

In response, WSB Western Province put up a commanding performance. Dutch International Babette de Leede laid the foundation with a steady 45, while Saarah Smith added a quick-fire 30. The star of the chase, however, was Dané van Niekerk, whose unbeaten 84* guided her team to victory.

Kelsey Adams contributed a handy 33, and Leah Jones sealed the deal with 8* as the hosts reached 228/5 in just 41.2 overs, clinching a convincing 5-wicket win.

Meanwhile, in Oudtshoorn, the Knights Women showcased their bowling prowess against the Garden Route Badgers. Batting first, the Knights posted 141 all out in the 40th over, with Nicolien Janse van Rensburg fighting a lone battle with an unbeaten 49*.

The rest of the lineup faltered under the relentless pressure from Lucian Swartz, who delivered a career-best return of 6/29.

Chasing a modest target of 142, the Badgers found themselves undone by a disciplined Knights bowling attack. Jane Winster led the charge with 3/23, while Julandi Saayman and Augusta Abrahams chipped in with two wickets each.

Despite efforts from Anica Swart (26), Verunissa Reddy (16) and Zintle Kula (14), the Badgers were bowled out for 104 in 34.4 overs, handing the Knights a 37-run victory – their first of the competition, to lift them off the bottom of the log, while the Badgers continue to languish at the bottom of the table, with no points to date.

Next weekend is a bye for Pro50 cricket, with action to resume on 14 December, when log leaders Dolphins host the Lions at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead, and the Badgers take on the dangerous Western Province at the Recreation Ground.
