The more we report on women’s sport, the more newsmakers we unearth. The bumper June #GAL2021 Newsmakers list, powered by Momentum, is a result of South African women in sport continuing to produce unstoppable performances globally.

SPAR Proteas’ Bongi Msomi broke new ground becoming the third SA national team captain to join Roc Nation Sports.

Springbok Women’s prop, Babalwa Latsha, also took a further step in her career, signing a deal with sports agency – Sminc Sports Management – as she aims to impact the lives of young girls on the African continent.

Another star flying the South African flag high on the international stage is current number one ranked all-rounder in ODI cricket, Marizanne Kapp, who signed for the Perth Scorchers for the 2021-22 Women’s Big Bash League season.

The Mail and Guardian honoured Clinical Psychologist, Dr Koketjo Tsebe, SASCOC Board Member, Lwandile Simelane, Para-Swimmer, Kat Swanepoel and Sports physiotherapist, Jolandi Jacobs, in their latest 200 Young South Africans list for their outstanding work both on and off the field.

With the Olympic Games less than a month away, Team South Africa announced a second batch of athletes that are set to represent the country in Tokyo.
